We had chickens when I was a kid, and we had to feed them the right kind of chicken feed if we wanted the things to lay eggs. If we didn't, they would still lay eggs, but just kind of randomly, and not very often.

coul be a jersey giant,hens can get up to ten pounds.
my sister has chickens and about 1 in 100 tend to be alot smarter and more independant than the others.
they would rome the property like a dog and nest away from the other birds,beg for food and let you pet them etc.
dont be suprised if you find a nest with 40 or 50 eggs in it under the house or behind a shed.they hide them well.

BTW, dont feed her popcorn or lots of dry bread it can clog her crop.

I'm surprised at all you mopar guys. Can't you recognize a Plymouth when you see one. My grandmother had some of these hens in her coup with the laying hens. Not much good for anything but keeping the foxes out of the henhouse. They used to chase me and snap at my legs when I would go for the eggs. They are "Plymouth Rocks" and they all have bad attitudes.

She's living in my hedges.  She pretty much keeps everything away.  The squirrels run the other way when they see her.  They're trying to outsmart her when I throw the popcorn but she manages to catch them sneaking in and chases after them.  She's pure evil.  Eldubb won't let me give Raven an opportunity at her.  He says she can choke on chicken bones.   Oh and thanks for telling me what she is.  A mooch, she eats our food and won't even give us an egg in return!  OMG, she's family!   This is what my front door looks like everyday, sometime more...right before she body slams it!
