What kind of fan are you using now, and how is it setup, right against the radiator?
Also, what kind of radiator are you using and what size? Northern sells some universal type shrouds for use with electric fans and their aluminum radiators.

The fan is a 16" Perma-cool, est. cfm 2000. It is mounted on the Rad. The Radiator is 27.5 x 19 Alum from Summit.
Here is some pics

a shroud will definately help - figure the fan you have is pulling a little more then half of the fin area on that radiator... thats not gonna cut it when there is no air flow, I made a few of these, for mechanical fans, it did the trick!

It's times like this I wish I knew how to use a TIG. I guess I'd buy one too if I knew how to use it properly. Unfortunately the cost of the MIG aluminum spool kit is as much as a TIG set up so I just don't see the point. *sigh*

DJVCuda,
Cooling problems here too. The POS dual Spal electrical fans ran hotter than the mechanical fan. I can take measurement off the Spal shroud and measure fan offset. Trying to cool these things are a nightmare.

Has anyone ran into the problem of too much water flow? I have a HV water pump. Thing is it's heating up on the highway too.

Mine really needs a shroud.....but I took it out on a 7 mile jaunt on the back roads this evening. Air temp was around 80 degrees. I have a HV Milodon water pump and 18 inch flex fan on the car. Alum. griffin radiator. With a stewart 180 thermostat it runs 170-180 going down the road. I let it idle for 10 min. in the driveway and it 185. Took it back down the road and it immediately dropped to 170-180 again.

Guy's , don't hold your breath waiting for DJVCuda to make you a shroud. I Pm'd him several times at Moparts for a shroud and never got a response. Apparently he does not want to make anymore.

That's a shame. A few "sweaties" that can weld and a guy could have his own custom shroud business.

I used a guy in Maryland, Mafaffey Motorsports, he builds custom fans shrouds and they are a work of art. I cannot figure out how even makes them compound curves etc. all TIG welded. Down load a preprinted form to log in your dimensions and fax it to him, follow up with a phone call to discuss details and two weeks later you will be very pleased with what you get. Mine was custom built for a Northern alloy rad. with a MP Performance belt driven 5 blade fan and clutch. I will post pictures if I can figure out how to. Fits perfect and the shroud hand polished like a mirror. "mafaffeymotorsports.com" He has a great web site check it out!
