Took off my rear parking brake cables and cleaned them up. Would like to spray the outside of them with a clear coat protection of some sort to keep looking good. Anyone done this? Question# 2 sprayed wd40 through the cables to clean and make sure they were free. What would be good to lub them with? Steve

i would dribble some tranny fluid down enough to flush the wd40 out even soak the whole thing a couple of hours then hang it to let the excess drip out

I was thinking about sliding heatshrink tubing over the whole cable. Oil it up first and then seal it up. Has anyone else tried this? It would give a nice new clean look. You can get the stuff in a roll or 4 foot lengths.
