B-Body Pitman Arm Question
« on: July 11, 2008, 04:47:14 PM »

My car is a 1967 Satellite and I'm converting from power to manual steering.  I've been under the impression that there is no difference between a power steering pitman arm and a manual steering pitman arm for '67 b-bodies.  I ordered a pitman arm for a manual steering '67 B-Body from Steer and Gear and I got a pitman arm that looks [different from what I took off my Satellite.  I have no idea if the pitman arm that I took off is original or not.  The problem is that the pitman arm that I pulled from my car is pretty straight and the new one made by Moog that Steer and Gear sent me is more of a banana shape.  But it looks like the mounting points end up being the same between the old, straight one and the new banana-shaped one.

Does anyone know what the pitman arm for this application is supposed to look like?  The guy at Steer and Gear didn't seem to know.  Should I just go for it and if everything bolts together and lines up it will be OK?

Here are some pictures:

Here is a photo to show that (I think) the mounting points end up in the same place after all is said and done.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me!

If it lines up the same it'll be fine.

Cool, thanks, that's what I thought.  I also called somone at Firmfeel and they said it's no biggie.  They said that the '70 and later pitman arms went to that banana shape and that's all anyone makes for the aftermarket now.
