i was searching around online for some brake stuff, i have been wanting to do the 11 3/4" rotor swap ever since i went to the big bolt pattern. i saw on ebay a company selling slider calipers that are gold sinc plated like new oem stuff, for 59.00 a pair with mounting hardware, free shipping too. seems like a real good deal, ive never seen plated aftermarket calipers, pretty interesting. what about the drilled and slotted rotor hype? any good? my buddy puts them on all his cars, but hes not all there. they are all over ebay and you can get them for pretty much the same price as normal rotors, they are also zinc coated to resist rust.

i have the 11 3/4 brakes on my car, i got the rotors through napa here in ill and they had to order them from cali so there arnt all that many out there, the drilled and slotted are mostly for looks, do they help gasses escape and maybe increase performance alittle, yes but are you going to be floging the car out on a road course no,
if i were you i would get the pin type caliper and brackets, i bought the slider type, and i had a small pebble get inside the track and it tore it all up, go for the pin type,

Here's what made my descision on slider or pin type calipers: Do my local parts vendors carry pads, at all, and are they semi metallic or just typical non-metallic? For my area, the pin types were only available in the non-metallic version, but there was semi metallics available for the sliders. Sliders it was. Of course this left me with the pin type calipers on the shelf *mumble*.
Pep Boys offers the 11 3/4" rotors under PN - 5311G about $40 ea. They don't stock them, they have to order them, but they are still available. Be aware too that a number of years ago some rotor MFG's were NOT putting in the reinforcing ribs for the bearing hub on the 11 3/4 rotors so make sure you check for these. If the back of the hub is smooth it's weak an that's why they put the ribs in. Pep Boys are good; at least mine were.
Here's something else of note, although I haven't confirmed this yet by putting the two next to each other, but the calipers appear the same as the 70-80's 1/2 ton P/U models. If they are the same, the supply should be good and plentiful for a while to come.
