well, the easiest thing would be to find a bench seat from a '67...i found some that im using in my 72 for that reason...they bolt on, and have no headrest...if nothing else modify the frame and have them recovered

I don't think he wants to eliminate them, just remove them.

Thats right, I want to keep them. They go up and down but I don't see any button to remove them. I am going to recover my seats but those head rests need to come out first of course.
So how do these head rest come out?

i think that one of the plastic pieces that the steel bars go through is movable, like it will move to the side a bit to release. you have to have it pulled up against the stop then move it.

I had low back buckets in my 69 Charger with headrests. I'm pretty sure the headrests just popped out without any tools, just a good, firm tug.

They don't just pop out as I tried that. Their is not a movable button on them either. The rods go through a chrome square piece that is screwed to the top of the seat. I unscrewed the chrome piece but still the head rest does not come out. Some body must have taken these things out before gt

I'm tellin' ya, it takes brute force. Put your hands between the headrest and the seat around the chrome stems and squeeze. That's how I did mine.

if the seats have a plastic back, remove it. maybe you'll be able to see what's happening.

I took rests of a '70 bench staet. They had a piece of spring steal under the cover below the headrest that has a tab that engages the notchs on the posts of the headrest. I tried and tried , then finally cut the back cover to see what was holding it . There might be away toslide a flat tool up the back to pry out alittle the spring clip. Or just take the cover loose and roll it up until you see it.

Well I got them out. Just like NYrr496 said, a good hard tug. Thanks to all for the replies.
