It adds what the oil manufactures have taken out of the oil so you dont wipe a none roller cam and the camshaft itself

I don't think it should be too bad, but don't take my word for it

Read the insructions on the bottle to see if there are any warnings. IMHO, I don't think it's going to be a problem but don't take my word for it. Personally, I think we're all getting a little paranoid over this "oil" thing.

I would agree with you and the oil additive thing but unfornatly My motor builder Erick at JB motors   in Poughkeepsie (aka Bobby Ingles shop )who builds pro stock motors for a living has wipped several cams durning his dyno sessions so since i could not afford a roller cam I am using this additive, should have went with the roller instead, something to do next time i do a rebuild lol

I'm in the same boat. Rollers are pricy and I have other car related things to do this  throw money with so that's that. I think this business of tearing up cam lobes is mostly related to high lift cams that require insane spring pressures.

Anyone out there have any problems with wimpy, sissy cams like the one I want to use (.488" lift intake / .501" exhaust)?

my neighbor wiped out a cam  200 miles after break in. he didn't use any additives and used motor oil formulated for new cars. granted it was a ford. but you'd think for 10K you could get a smallblock that didn't wipe out lifters.  then spent even more money to go full on roller so he didn't have that problem again.  then a week later I fired up my solid lifter /6 with no problems. I put in E.O.S. for break in
