A few progress pics AlterK/6.1
« on: July 16, 2008, 08:47:31 PM »

Some progress pics.....

Gonna be a super low stance on coils.

The AlterK was moved up 2" into the frame rail.  Frame was boxed with 3/16" plate.  AlterK frame is welded into the frame rails.  Gonna box the upper shock a little.  Super smooth firewall and inner fenders......

Wheels will be ordered in the next week....Tryin a 255/35/18 up front.  Mods will be made to the fender to fit, dont know exactly how much just yet.  The 6.1 should be mounted (centered in the engine bay) in the next couple days.  TTI headers will probably need to be modified, as the tunnel/floor as well.

More pics soon, but for now

Very cool, by raising the whole K you can still keep your oil pan clearance  Cool

Hood should clear......might have to modify the inner structure a tad.  I have some ideas for a custom type of scoop or scoops

It would fit under a cowl  Grin My motor is up about 4" and back a bunch too.  I never would have thought about moving the K into the frame. great idea  drinks

Wow Rob, more changes huh?   This is all after you got the 6.1?   Pretty cool changes.   I like that K being raised up into the frame.   Pretty innovative.   Don't you just love how these projects take on new identities?   Mine was originally going to be a Cuda version of the A12 pkg. Road Runner.   Then I decided to go with a new 5.7 Hemi crate motor with stock suspension.   Then I upgraded to the AlterK;  then I upgraded to the 6.1.   throw money        It's a sickness, will this madness ever end?   lol

I'm done with changes......oh wait....now done.....and again.

Bill was cool enough to send me a new crossbar for the Alterk frame, mandrel bent.....i'm obsessed with little details....

The 6.1 spawned a bunch of swirling ideas......

Your Demon is beautiful.  I am going for pro-touring as well (though with a 360 LA/Magnum/Magnumforce front componants), and will be following your progress closely.

Final stance.......wheels should be here next week.  The wait time on wheels is ridiculous.....

With all the mods to AlterK, Tri 4Link and subframe I have 5" of ground clearance all around.

just curious, what will you be using for a trans? will any manuals bolt up to it? maybe an A833 with small block bellhousing, or any modern manual trans?

I am gonna use a paddle shifted 4l65RR.  it's a 4l65e case with just about all top quality parts internal, engine braking valve body, custom convertor etc.....  Quicktime has a bellhousing for the appl coming in the next two month

Wheel/tire, I like 16 front, 17 rear. Anything too big doesn't look quite right, combining that big rim with small rim acceleration, handling, and tire availability. 18s wouldn't look right on a small car.

As everything goes, changing things are a chain reaction.

New inner fenders to help clear the front tires......255 is wide up front at this ride height.  A 48" sheet metal brake is a nice tool to have.
