Be very careful about the Mac vs. PC crowd. Everyone has a favorite and will try very hard to sway you to theirs.

At this point, both Mac and PC are stable, and can be very reliable. Mac seems to have a better reputation for reliability. PC's can be great, too, though, depending on the vendor that you purchase from.

What you need to look at is; what applications are required for you to make this business venture successful? And which platform (mac or PC) do the applications run on? It used to be that lots and lots of applications would run on PC that would not on Mac, while Mac has always had the reputation for photo and video editing supremacy.

I believe Mac is getting better about having applications support it, but at the very least, whatever you choose, make sure that the software you need will run on your new system. Depending on how much work you want to do or how computer savvy you are, you can always make most applications that don't normally support Mac work on a Mac.....but how much time do you want to spend playing computer geek vs. time spent doing the work you need to do?

i bought jamie a mac book pro a couple years ago..  man that thing is great.  it is way more user friendly then the pc. there is a learning curve with it bucause there are things that are different.  we also loaded windows in it so we can run the mac os in one window and windows in another window. that amazes me. it runs windows better then the pc does..lol.    we are very happy with it.

I can't tell you about hardware, but I use Mac's Safari browser and I tunes every time I am on the computer.  Much more stable and faster loading, even on my PC!
