Topic: Fuel Injection pricing? (Read 355 times)

Anyone have a good ballpark figure for a complete Injection setup for a B block dodge? I am thinking of going with a FAST or a Megasquirt. But I am trying to figure out a ballpark cost for the rest of the stuff like the 160 injectors, an intake, the throttle body and fuel rails.
Thanks

160 Injectors??? Surely you don't really mean 160 lb/hr injectors... Anyway my FAST pricing is on my web site under Products. But your looking at $3K+ depending on how you do your manifold. Here's a rough breakdown: ECU $1600 Main Harness: $330 Injector Harness: $120 Throttle body with TPS and IAC: $550 Map, Air and Coolant sensors: $60 Sub Total = $2660 My tech support is free and I can tune FAST systems from my shop via the Internet. The injectors are a function of the HP level. Pricing for those is on the web site too. You may want to print out the first article of a series I wrote for a local Mopar Club. They're on the Technical Download page. It's titled "All you wanted to know about EFI but were afraid to ask -1" Hope this helps. OOPs - forgot to give the website www.fastmanefi.com

Ya I talking 160Lb/hr injectors but maybe they are a bot big. What I will be running is a 451CI stroker with a 91mm turbo.

What's the expected HP level?
BTW: For a turbo car you'd want to use something like a single throttle body. I sell the Big Mouth 92 MM unit for $399

FAST man EFI - Is there much difference in the intake manifold you have to set up for EFI like an M1 single plane vs Eddy's victor or an Eddy RPM type for a low deck (race application)? I would think the Victor would be best since there are less bends for the air to go around but what have you seen? What's the total cost from nothing to out the door for one of these systems? The sees it as but we both know it'll be better than a carb so I'm looking pretty hard at these systems, whether she likes it or *looking around the room* not.

The manifold does not affect the performance with port injected EFI nearly as much as a carb. I explain all this in the articles that are on my web site, but basically it's because with the carb's wet flow the design of the manifold is critical. With port EFI the manifold only carries air. Still - it's obvious that a direct shot to the intake valve, dry or wet, is still the best way to go if you're looking to maximize HP.
I have tested single plan M1 style manifolds (and EB Victor), and dual plane, and sheet metal types, on the same engine. Although the best manifold was the sheet metal with the single plan second and the dual plane last, the difference between them all was not as great as they were with a carb that I used on the same motor. To test the carb I just left the injectors installed but not plugged in. This particular motor was right at 700 HP. I may write an article for a mag about these tests. They took a long time to do. One final note - the max HP and torque was not any better with EFI than with a carb. I could squeak out a few more HP with the EFI if I tuned each cylinder to both A/F/EGT and timing but that costs big $ on the dyno.
The system cost was as I said above ... $2660 and then add in the manifold and probably a dual sync distributor. EB sells EFI manifolds for SB and RB motors but you have convert one for a B motor. I charge $550 to convert a manifold and the dual sync distributor sells for $399.
There you go...
BTW: we are on the road tuning cars this week, and then I'm racing at the Autolight Nationals in Sonoma so I'll have intermittent Internet contact.

Do you know about how much that thing will flow (CFM) on a N/A set up?

It can be about a grand cheaper if you do everything your self and go with megasquirt. I like the Idea of doing it yourself and being able to mix and match any parts. I've been working on this for awhile. Only thing that is slowing me down is all my dam deployments. Everytime I get going again I go out to sea or have something else going on. But hey someday right.
