Life.
« on: July 20, 2008, 01:20:36 AM »

Man how life changes,

In the last 6 months my parents have moved back to N.M. to build a house there and retire. My older sister has finally gotten married. My daughter will be 18 next week and will be going off to collage in the fall, my 15 year old son is now almost 4" taller then me, after almost 20 years of doing carpentry work I have started a new line of work and now at the age of 37 I'm the new guy again. My wife just got a nice fat promotion at her work at FTB. My mother and father in-law lost most of there stuff along with 2 66 chargers in a house fire last month.  Today would have been my youngest brothers 25th birthday. As I sit here thinking of him and life in general I feel I have had a long life in my short 37 years on this big blue ball. Sorry about all the rambling on just have been doing a lot of thinking today.

I believe that someone higher up (I'm not naming "God", b/c everyone has a different opinion on "Who is up there", like me.) makes a set path for each of us to follow. Gives us things we have to accomplish in our life times. Unfortunately, those can be bad things. But where would we be at if things didn't go wrong?

It's funny how life works. Sometimes it sucks. Just try to make the best of it!

My wife sometimes says she wishes my life had gone differently for me and she wishes I was happier in the past.  I remind her if it didn'y go EXACTLY the way it went, we would have never met.

It's so true.  I guess we have to go thru the bad to get to the good and vise versa.  I like to reflect but when it turns to worrying, then I try and change my mindset.  I can't believe how fast life is in general.  I guess we have to be thankful for the good and the bad, but I have a really hard time being thankful for bad times.  I just get plain angry!  Later I look back and say well if that didn't happen, then this "good thing" wouldn't have happened.  Life is unpredictable and I guess I like being able to predict what's next. Yeah, I'm a whole 21 years old, and I look at all that's changed often.
I was in college, on a running scolarship, was broke, partied a lot, and had barely even traveled out of my own state. Then I signed up for the military, went to South Carolina for Basic, then Arizona, then Germany, and now Iraq.  I am able to pay for just about anything I want, and don't have to worry about much of anything.
Both my mom's partnts died within the 7 months before I left for basic.  The only grandparents I knew.
My youngest sister had a kid just after she graduated High school, and last month she got married to a guy she'd known for less than a month, and they live with his mother.   My other sister got married when I was in college to a guy she dated for 2 years, they bought a house, and a nice car (Grand Am), and had a kid a year later.  My step sister has 4 kids, 11, 10, 9, and 5, has been drug free for the last couple years, and has actually been dating the same guy for about the same, and has a really nice apartment.
My parents are doing alright, mom is working at an alright place, her Bug (volkswagen) just got sent to the body man to put new floors in, and the Dart's going to be headin there this winter, so we can finally get her back into racing, she had shoulder surgery about a half year ago, and it seems to be doing alright. My dad had 3 heart attacks before he was 52, and a triple bypass surgery shortly after the last, he just had a defibrolator implanted in his chest, and is still getting used to it, but he's still workin on the cars.  His car's running good, he's 2nd in points, and just got a couple trucks to work on (not his), but he's finally able to start doing that stuff again. He'll be an offical senior citizen on his next birthday.

I hope everything goes well for all of you guys, just keep your chins up, and remember, there's always someone who's got it worse than you do. (and I'm not referring to me having it bad, things are lookin good for me right now)

And I'm only 2? no, make that 3? no...I mean 40..... forty what!?!??!!! I can't be THAT old, already!

Sure, Roger..It's a Relatively easy to explain..

You have heard of Einstein's Theory of Relativity, where the faster you go, the slower time passes, relatively..?

Well, the converse is also true..

Hence, the older we get, the more we slow down, thus the faster time seems to go by..

what about me though, I'm 21, and moving faster than ever before, why does a year seem to go by so much faster than even when I was in High school

You are still older now than when you were in High School, and speed is relative, Grasshopper...

You may think that you are moving faster, but the fact is that you are merely spending more money...

That's why I like the reunions. I get to see people I was only casual friends with or just barely knew. Our high school was very social (complete with a social hierarchy that is basically gone now). I finished the alumni-only get-together Friday night with a good friend of mine and part of the group that he hung with. This group included the star quaterback/#2 pitcher (who I see occassionally these days), the #4 pitcher who went on to pitch for the Red Sox (Steve Ellsworth), another guy I knew who was a good running back on the football team, and the class troublemaker. It was fun to listen to stories I had never heard before and to truly find out that these guys were not as impressed with themselves as the rest of us thought they were in high school.

Remember when we made plans on what we wanted to get done in the next week? Now it's plans on what we are going to do in the next year. This keeps going this way it's going to be plans for my next life.

OK....I can buy off on that...........Newton's laws....for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Hence, the older we get, the more we slow down, thus the faster time seems to go by..
*****************************************************************************
So....You're suggesting that when I was younger,(and dumber), I expended enough energy to move me at the earthly equivalent of the speed of light nitrous, but somewhere my "carb" got out of tune, and can no longer expend the same amount of energy.  So....slower velocity will allow those with the energy to expend to pass me by.
Hmmmmmmmmm.....at this rate, by the time I die, I'll be moving backwards. lol Frustrated

wow I thought I have been having problems. I am 38 going on 39 . I have been spending a lot of time between 1978 and 1988 ( in my mind ) and wondering what the hell happened  where did it all go, and why am I missing it so much. ( I hated my high school years )  . married now for 15 years , and still no kids ( not that I ever wanted any . or do I ? )   IS 38 TO YUNG FOR A MID LIFE CRISIS ?   I probably can't afford one anyhow.  kinda glad to find out I am not the only one feeling a little screwed up .
