I believe the 440 Six Pack was externally balanced, you may find choice is limited.

After breaking a mopar damper, I bought a Fluidamper. I've had zero problems with it, but I've seen some people post that they have and they use something else.

Interesting, I have a factory 1970 Six Pack here and it is externally balanced. There is an offset weight on the balancer to compensate for the extra weight of the conrods. I know the '71 has it also as a mate has one They both have forged cranks Be certain what you've got before you order a part for it

thats the first time Iv heard of that in over 25 years of playing with big block wedges, to my understanding external balanced engines where all cast cranks from late 73 onwards to 78

The 69 six pack motors were just basic 440 hp internal balance forged crank with regular connecting rods, in 70 and 71 and some 72 six pack motors they added the big and heavy 6 pack rods so they had to add weight to the damper to compensate for the extra weight to balance it out, they only did that for a few years after that, for several years after that chrysler was getting rid of their six pack inventory so you might find a bottom end with six pack rods and no external weight on the damper but they made up lighter pistons to compensate for that, sometimes it was a hit or miss what you would find in the bottom end. I know it's off topic, but once I biult am engine with six pack rods. Holy crap, it revved noticeably slower. It was identical to the engine before it except the rods. I think I gave them away for free.

6 pack rods are as bad as running factory pistons. They weigh a ton. They arent that nuch if any stronger than standard rods.Best to get a set of aftermarket rods.Every 6 pack Ive seen is external balance.Summit has a nice SFI damper that can be run internal or external balance.Rocky
