340 Exhaust manifolds
« on: July 24, 2008, 02:48:37 PM »

Does anyone know if 70' 340 Exhaust manifolds will fit my 65 Abody Dart with no fender mods/clearance issues? at 250 for the pair I may by these instead of headers. Don't want to cut the car.

I have heard both side to this, but when Lee (lilcuda) tried it back in the late 80s on the 66 he said they didn't fit. I don't remember where the problems were, though.

Well, they didn't have Schumacher mounts back then. I made my own with the help of a friend. We didn't get it quite right. Anyway, they DO fit with Schumacher mounts, however you have to replace the factory steering coupler with a Flaming River u-joint. My friend has 340 manifolds on his 1964 Barracuda.

The spitfire don't need fenders mods. I got a set within 1 month.

With Power Steering no go on drivers side, Manual steering it should but is very tight...  I ended up with TTI on the 64 Dart, what a mother, look nice but man it is tuff! And I run a 727 and that made it even worse too with power steering.

I had them on my 64 dart convertable with manual steering, you will need a 90 degree oil filter adaptor to go with them, should work with power steering,I will check,my 63 val has a v 8 and power steering...engine and trans are just sitting in there right now and I have a set of those manifolds so I will give a look for ya.

Trying to decide now between Spitfires and fenderwells. Anybody bolted up a TTI exhaust system to either?Spitfires flow ok?
