S.S. springs could only get me 1.55 60' on a drag radial and foot braking to 2200 ! Foget using the trans brake at 4500 !!!!
Cal trac has said it will work just like a 4 link, any body do this swap ??
few more bucks and I could just go real 4 link or ladder bars. Car is street driven, some times, and track driven just as much. Tim

I made the swap... my car was real sketchy with the ss. springs. the caltracs seem to hook very well and you can adjust the ride height to excatly what you want.and keep a pinion angle.. i have left off my brake @ 3500 before and it hooked hard.. they like to have a quick snap out of the hole... nitrous works best right out of the hole as well... money well spent... they do ride harsh on the street... but no worse than ss springs.. you can haul lumber in the trunk with ss springs...

I ran the caltracs with SS spring's and had alot of problems hooking with almost no improvement in 60 foot time. Also the car would porpoise out of the hole really bad, I tried pulling springs out and everything. Finally I broke down and bought the mono leaf's and WOW! what a difference. The car hit's harder, hook's better and I'm finally getting consistent ET's.

I just made the switch to their bars and springs. Like the ride height lowered back down to stock and the level rear, but did not see any real gains (0.10) from them. I was only able to get a few runs in, not really able to play with them yet. How many turns of preload do you guys run? Any other tuning hints for them?

I believe cal trac recommends against the SS spring as it defeats the purpose of the system. You don't want preload per se on the spring. Put a nickel between the cross post and spring front and set it there.

I heard they recommend giving the bars 1.5 turns preload as a starting point for tuning. Gotta find out how these damn things work.
