Topic: Pinion angle??? (Read 345 times)

I just installed my A-body 8 3/4 into my duster. It's an original A-body part, and I installed it on her own stock springs-basically the way it came out. Question: do I need to worry about pinion angle at this point. This is more of a dry fit than anything because the springs will have to be swapped eventually anyway, but the car will see the road and track possibly the way it is.....ps-there were no shims or wedges in the assembly

It depends on how hard your car launches and whether it hooks on launch, auto versus manual trans.......all of these factors will affect how much the front segment of the rear spring wraps up, thus raising the pinion on the diff. Make sure you are using a pinion snubber on it though. Without a pinion snubber you could break a u-joint if the pinion comes up far enough. I'm running adj. pinion snubber, auto trans, and BFG street tires, so hooking isn't an issue with my car. It just burns the baloneys!!

You wont need a snubber.
If you arent racing it at the track seriously with slicks , etc... I wouldnt worry about it. I f you do need to adjust it, you can get shims from Mancini.
