Many people are running b-body rear ends, some haven't even moved the perches. Fortunately I have never had to resort to making a b-body rear fit so I can't answer the wheels question.

I have an early B-Body rear ('63) under my Valiant. Of course, it also has the crappy old-style axles, but it's only about an inch wider than an A-body rear and it was $50 on craigslist. drinks

Is a '65 B-Body rear the old length that can most easily be used in a Dart?

Any B Body axle from 1962 to 1970 will work. The later years had the non tapered axles which are a better option. The spring perches are only 1 inch wider that the A Body's.  You can spread the leaf spring 1/2 inch on each side and the axle housing will drop right in. With todays offset rim choices getting a nice set will be no problem.  Eric  4 speed

actually i already worked a deal out with a guy for the A-Body rear hub to hub with no center in it,it really would'nt be that big of a deal but i already told him i would take it a few days ago and he just called me back today so i am gonna keep my word on it that i would take it,and i still might pick the B-Body one up there is a big price difference in them and the B-Body one already has the 4.5 bolt pattern and the big drums on it,but can you still get the factory rally wheels to work on it with the B-Body rearend in it and still get enough meat on em to keep it from sitting in one spot spining the wheels off it

I just put a 67 Charger 8 3/4 in my 74 Scamp. Just had to flex the springs out to line up the perches, (just me and my hands, very, very easy) The factory 14x5.5 rally wheels fit, (very close to outer fender trim, but they fit) Sorry no pics yet.  Embarrassed

I am really considering getting some 17x8 Bullitt rims w/ 255/50R17's for mine.

Pics of my 67 B-body 8 3/4 in my 74 Scamp.  Its 59 inches overall with 44 inch perches.

I just flexed the leafs out bout 1/2 inch each and it bolted up fine.  I used all the stock brake parts, even the hard brake lines. (new shoes, W.C and hardware)

The stock 14x5.5 ralley wheels fit back under with 235/60R14's but I will have to trim the fender lip to protect the sidewall. You can see in the tird pic that the inner side wall was rubbing the inner wheel well with the stock 7 1/4 rear axle.

Soooooo,a 5.5 inch wide wheel with 3.75 backspacing will clear the fender lip with a FAT sidewall.  Add 2.5 inches in wheel width for a 8 inch wide wheel and increase Backspacing to 6.25 inches for a perfect fit.   I think!! \/][ ??
