Last weekend we had our annual Flashback cruise in our town. There were a few straight axle cars (all chevies.....see video) . It got me thinking maybe I might look in to doing this nostalgia suspension on my 65' Dart. I know an A100 van front end will fit; but I don't know of the steering box/linkage and geometry setting and shock system requirements. Do any of you know who might "specialize" in maybe a straight axle "kit"? Like I said; it's only a consideration at this point; but it might be kinda cool to do if it's not TOO difficult of a job.

Hot Rod magazine has been releasinfg another title, Hot Rod Deluxe and they sold an issue having an article on what your aue planning to do. A 65 dart but going AWB route. Mopar Guru Steve Magnante runs the whole thing and it goes out quite slick. I decided I should do one also, got a 70 sedan 4 dr, converted it to a 2 dr sedan much the same way our buddy Arillious made with his car. Now time for the straight axle swap. I found an old F75 (brasilian built jeep willys pick up truck) and installed disc brakes and will go cross steering to make it work properly. In the magazine article they used an axle out of a truck and it was way too wide, so they just cut it and removed a small portion of it to make it fit correctely under the dart, keeping it from looking silly with a wide front track. The text is quite complete. If You do not find the magazine, I scanned the article and I can mail it to you. PM me if You need it.

thefunnycarfarm.com has a 90 minute dvd on altering the wheelbase and putting in a straight axle in a dart. I liked it, 2 thumbs up!

Cool . I had been milling around that idea a few years back. I will look as I priced out all of the components from Speedway Motors. Check out the website. I think it was the ford spindles so I could keep the 4.5 bolt pattern.
