They just take 80w90 gear oil , right? Is friction modifier needed and how much?

That gear oil would work fine. If it's a sure-grip limited slip then a bottle of friction modifier will help smooth things out when going around corners. Willie

A lot of the gear oils already contain the friction modifier so if you look for that on the label, you will not need to spend more money.
