you will get an info sheet with the paint that will tell you everything .
mine was PPG Omni , i think there was a max time before shooting the clear , in other words the clear needed to go on within 24 hours of shooting base and yes , theres the flash times

let it flash and spray it. you dont want to get into sanding base.

With most B/C systems you do not want to let the basecoat dry for more than a few hours or you will be wetsanding the basecoat before putting down the clear. I usually let my final coat of base dry to the touch before laying down the clearcoat. Actual drying times depend on temp and humidity of course. Make sure you use the correct reducer (speed) for the temperature you are spraying at.

make sure you have slow drying reducers if its an overall job..........you want the base to lay down smooth and flat, not dry and grainy...........follow the tech sheet and good luck

Once you get started go ahead and finish. I have had paint reps say you can wait up to 24 hours before getting your clear on, but i don't think that is a good idea. Let your coats flash for 10-20 minites, or dry to the touch on the basecoat. Like has already been said it will depend on your temp. Get it taped up, and and once you start painting get it finished before you quit. Matt

How long should you wait for the base coat to flash if you want to mask so you can paint a stripe of a different colour? (think black bumblebee stripe)

id wait a few hours at least, you dont want tape tracks in the basecoat.........there are alot of variables; temp, dry rate of the reducer, how it is applied........maybe keep a small test panel handy, coat it as you coat the car. then start sticking tape to it
