I bought the smallest wheel tubs Competition Engineering sells......36 inches. So as I try to install them centered to the axle; the front edge of the side wall is gonna interfere with the inside panel covering the quarter glass. What do I do; notch the "hoop"? And when I assemble the tubs; how will they ever go in? (Through the wheel well?) Thanks for any advice

if you have steel tubs, cut away as your going to weld them in anyways. aluminum will take a little more thinking.

when i put mine in ,you find when you make your cardboard temp. you will slide them up and in.as to the front being aluminum where you trim the front i welded a piece a steel on the floor for renforcement and put in a piece of L shape steel and screw it to the floor and tub

Mine are steel. I was just concerned about where it is "boxed" at the front of the wheelwell if it would be better to keep that in tact and notch around it?

while each build is different, i think that you need to cut out everything ,to the size of the tubs. i am at work and onlt have 1 pic. but this will give you some idea. keep in mind that the factory frame rails might be harder to work around. i am not sure if i have any more pics. i will try to find some tonight.

looks like he cut the tub to fit around those rocker boxes ... if you do nto nee the clearance for the tires I would leave the rocker box intact...

Yeah, a bear. I trimmed 3/4" of the outside to get mine in. I was told that epoxy and cloth to bond them to the outer body is ok.

I used a set from S+W. I don't have any pics of them apart but did cut the car like you are showing. After your done you will need to make a support for the bottom of the rear window. I made mine go up from the back bars and then across the bottom inside. Since i chose to use the trunk hinges in the stock location i had to make little tubs in the tubs for them when the decklid is closed. When making tubs that will not fit in whole i cut them minus 1" off the widest part. Then put the tub in. You then measure every 2" from where you cut it off to the outside of the car and make a *filler* piece from what you cut off. This piece you pop rivet to the tub and then i use urethane to attach it to the quarter panel. Here is the only pic i have.

UPDATE; I got one measured, cut assembled and will install tomorrow. Gosh; these things are more hassle than quarter panel replacement!

Those look really good. Doing the whole tub was more work than adding a strip of metal in the existing tub for me.

Wow; good job! I was gonna just do the " mini tub" ; but my exsisting ones were rusted out between the tub and the inner quarter panel

Would it be possible to trim the tubs down like an inch (or what's need) to fit instead of cutting the lower brace for window? Also to bond the tub to the 1/4 panel what have you guys used? I saw someone say epoxy and cloth. Any other ideas?

i just use sillycone on them when i do them that way they can move a little if the body flexes a little. ans yes getting them in assembled can be a nightmare but thats what we get the big bucks for.

Anybody ever use that body glue for tubs? I plan on using it on my wheelwells when I do my quarter panels.

I have used, liquid nails, silicone, seam sealer, urethane and spray foam. All work good but the urethane won't ever come back off.

I ended up cutting 3/4 inch "V" shapes (VVVVVVVVVV) into the edge so that as I moved them in to place; the metal edge would bend as far as need to keep the tubs snug. I went and picked up seam sealer; but I think I like the urethane idea better.

urethane is a killer adhesive; I use it on commercial construction, and the guys that rebuild boat hulls love it. Home depot, pl 2000, I think. You just have to have a clean surface; not lacquer thinner. Acetone, then alcohol denatured, not from the grocery store, the real stuff; or white vinegar. Try to tear it apart, the wood will splinter, before the adhesive does. But the cleaning is the trick.
