I am working on converting my '74 Duster to manual steering. I thought I had a large sector box but when I went to install my pitman arm I ran in to a problem, it didn't fit. So I did a little more homework and tripped over some pictures I wish I could have found 6 months ago. They showed the difference between the large and small sector boxes. I planned on calling around monday after work to see if I could find to correct one. By the time I got off of work I had a pounding headache and was sick. I needed to order the part so I called firm feel. I thought that would be the best place to start, I called their tech line and told them what I had and what I was doing. They said no problem, we have that pitman arm here. I was feeling worse ( ) so I said great, can you ship 1 out tomorrow? It wasn't until after I had hung up and ran to the bathroom ( ) that It dawned on me that I didn't ask about the price ( ![\/][](http://www.bigblockdart.com/Smileys/classic/finger020.gif) ) or which way the stud faced ( ). I ordered the part and ran to the bathroom. I check my online banking today (tuesday) only to find a pending charge of a $140 dollars! The only thing that could be is Firm Feel, , I wont find out the name of it until it is posted in a day or two. Is there any reason why the small sector arm for my car should cost that much? I am tempted to return it and get my money back if they are trying to screw me over.

sounds like they lowered the price $35. ![\/][](http://www.bigblockdart.com/Smileys/classic/finger020.gif) is it a fast ratio arm?are you sure your headers will work with it? part # PARP7075M is the stock arm it should be $100 or less.

It shouldn't be a fast ratio, neither one of us said anything about that. I looked at them on their website and decided not to go with them because of the $250 price tag for the pitman and idler arm.
From what I could tell the OEM pitman arm should work with the RB(440) w/schumacher headers. Their website also said that the fast ratio arms will work with that setup too. I am not sure though, I am getting more and more confused.

I can tell you from dealing with Firm Feel they are a great bunch of people. I think the reason the cost is so high is because of the larger sector. Call them back and cancel the order if it is more than you want to spend and if it has not shipped. The cost for a small sector pitman arm can range between 60 and 90 dollars depending on brand and who is selling the part. I would suggest looking for a steering box with a small sector on Craigs list or Ebay. Look to spend between 50 and 100 dollars for a good used box. Eric

If it will work; it's on it's way to you; and it's been invoiced, put it on your car and don't look back. It's not worth trying to save $50 after the fact now. You'd have to go through the return process (and a return charge?); and still hunt down and get a cheaper one? You win some, you lose some. I'd put the car together and DRIVE it...

I bought mine from Mancini Racing for $44.95. It is a Moog part. They have them for both large and small sector. Phone number is 1-800-843-2821.
