Power Bulge Hood Repair question..
« on: August 20, 2008, 06:06:55 PM »

I have a power bulge hood that has a problem at the hinge locations. The rust where the hinge bolts attach has caused it to peel off the nutplate area on both sides of hood. What would the best repair be for this area without putting a complete new/donor skeleton frame? After seeing the hood on here that had the power bulges welded in on a regular hood and was awesomely done I must say, I was wondering about mine and the above mentioned repair fix. Your thoughts and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Greg

I do have a donor skeleton but the only usable portion is the rear section that contains the hinges.

i would just chop the section you need out and weld it in. keep the cuts and welds away from the hood skin if possible otherwise its going to warp all over the place.
