ignition wiring

Is the ballast resistor taken out of the loop when wiring in an MSD 7Al ? Also, what is done with the second field wire? The MSD has it own coil and billet dist so it basically is a "system" within its self. Will the alternator function properly with only one field wire?

One field wire is a switched (run) 12 volts.  Check out this simple diagram:

MSD has all the wiring diagrams and manuals for all the components they manufacture that you can download and print right off of their  website, and they have a really good tech line that I have used and found to be very helpful
