I need to decide between these two boxes. I was going to buy a 6AL, then noticed the 6AL2. It seems they haven't been around very long. The new box is about $50 more.
Anybody have experience with them? Opinions?

The new 6AL-2 is microprocessor controlled, has rotary dials to set the rpm limits on the built-in 2-step (no more rpm modules) and provides hotter output than a 6-AL.

Whats the big deal with the rev limiter? Why not just the 6 a model. Is there any performance gains from the two? I was going to just buy the 6a.

No performance gain between the 6A and 6AL. The rev limiter is handy with a stick shift. I don't want my new engine coming apart!

Just ordered the 6AL-2 from Summit with a gift card.
I won't know whether or not it works until next spring. Maybe sometime during the winter depending on how things go.
Thanks for the replies.

We have had the 6AL box in our dart since 2005. Daily Driver, no problems.
Also have the MSD Billet Distributor, MSD Blaster II Epoxy coil and MSD Spark-Plug Wires..
The Rev limiter on the 6AlL unit works great with an Automatic, too, as when you are manual shifting through the Gears.
I retrofited a Slap-Stick shifter in our Dart, and sometimes, when I'm pushing WOT, the 2nd - 3rd Shift does not click in...
In such rare cases, the engine simply spins up to the RPM limiter and then gently drones down.
FWIW, I have my Shift Light set at 5800 RPM, the Rev Limiter chip is a 6400 RPM.
This car is a Street Fighter only and never sees the Track, so take this info for what it's worth..
