I just used the rear seat belt, and some spare male ends from the shoulder belts. Bolt the eye to the bottem of the window, and screw the male end to the bottom of the door. I can get pics later if you need them.

The way "dartracer did his allows you to open the window varying amount. If you wanted to do it like the S/S, they just used snapson the belts, so the window was either down or all the way up.

im going to do it the SS style either up or down. I either have them down when im cruising or i have them up for racing,
I know they basically used them with buttons But how do you connect it the the bottem of the window. in either case?
i havnt seen what the the crank system looks like on these cars but do you just leave the bottem rail that holds the glass and screw it into the center of that? or close to it/?
thanks

Just below the frame that holds the lower portion of the glass is a 2""x1" (approx) piece of metal attached to it. Punch an eyelet hole (to prevent tearing) into the belt material & use a 1/2in. bolt to secure it to the window. Go to a store that sells sewing items for the eyelets & snaps & get the type of snaps used on varsity jackets. Screw the male half onto the lower portion of the door & install the female half onto the strap. Make sure you have enough length to go over the armrest (if you so desire) or have the strap go into/behind the armrest. Be sure the window IS FULLY UP while you're making your measurements, otherwise you'll have a gap when you go to close the window.

The kind of hole you see in sneakers with metal surrounding it. They make a small kit found at sewing supply places to install them, but in a larger diameter.

ohhh ok i get it.
So you put the eyelet in the belt and bolt it onto the bottem window frame.
Then for the "button" part do you put the eyelet in as well....and then put
the "varsity jacket button" through the hole? or just crimp the button on or something

thanks for the info! its helping alot.

No, the "button" part has its own retaining system as you'll see when you install it. The tool used crimps the edges of the button so it stays in place by itself.

sweeeet well i took my seat belts i got to a leather shop thats local and the girl there helped me out and we got all the eyelets and buttons we needed and set up the belts for the window strap system. She did it all and the hardware for free!!!  kinda weird but she said she like darts and she spent her teen years riding in them so she could relate to my project.
Now that i have them in and set up my driver side window gets very tough to go up and down at the upper half.Close to the top it almost dosnt want to move up or down.
Not sure if something came un-allined or something....any ideas? overall looks great though and with free belts and the girl at the leather shop it was all free!
let me know what you think.

It looks great! Sounds like the window is out of the back track. Check where the window mounts on the bottom frame & make sure when you lower the window both ends stay in the track. with nothing rigid holding the widow it can kinda rock front-to-rear sometimes causing that part to come out of the track. Solution? When moving the window do it S-L-O-W-L-Y.................

ya im gonna check the allinment on everything.
Im happy with how it turned out...it cost me 75 cents throw money for the bolts and hardware to mount it
and a lady at a leather shop did it all for free...and my brother had the belts
but i shaved a little weight and got the look i wanted all for nearly nothing.'
now tomorrow im making my hemi ss aluminum seat mounts! !nanr

Do you have any pics of how this is hooked up to the window?

I'd be interested in seeing your bracket when you're done too.

Thanks!
