front coil-over conversion
« on: September 02, 2008, 09:00:39 PM »

hey everybody,I am a new member with major installation issues.I cannot physically get the coil-over shock to fit between the  upper shockmount and the lowercontrol arm.I have ground the inside corner of the shocktower to make room for the spring and cut some of the bump-stop under the frame and i am still 1 1/2" away from bottom shock mount on the lower control arm.The only way I see this fitting is if I cut the frame, that cannot be right. Please help!

hey Bob,thanks for the pictures.I finally cut and ground enough to install shock but I did notice one difference in your setup. It looks to me like you have 9 coils on your spring is that by any chance a 10"  spring if so that is my problem as my springs are 12".Appreciate all the help.

they are made out of 1" square bar stock and are attached with the bolts that used to hold the stock brake caliper on and are bolted to where the caliper used to be. the length will vary according to the position of the rack.

Thanks for the info,it seems the install would be alot easier with 10" springs.Your car looks very nasty,I would like to see more pictures of it.I am in the process of putting pictures of mine on here, shooting for low 9's on the pump gas.

do you know if this would work on a drum brake spindle ?  I have wildwood disc brakes to put on but will be putting a rack on it also

i doubt it will work because there will be no holes to bolt the steering bracket to.
