1968 Bcuda. . .is it worth it.
« on: September 06, 2008, 09:51:49 AM »

My buddy bought a '68 on ebay and it turned out to be patch panel paradise in the engine bay, along with the motor being junk.  He's got the rolling chassis in B5 blue, nice interior/center console/nice hood with inserts/nice rear panel/decklid.  Small pattern Cragars.
Down side: Small rear/no motor or trans/engine bay.  He bought the car for 12 and now will sell the chassis for 2.  Should I go for it?  I hear the grilles are worth it.

If it's a good deal, snatch it up while you can.

They don't make them anymore and they are much more rare than a mustang or a camaro.

I'd buy them all if I could afford it, and I'd have one killer collection of A-body Darts and Barracuda's.

An old mopar used too, and still does kick ass.
Plenty of gm and ford in my dust. With  a 318, manual 3 speed and 3.23
this caged 408, 727, and 4.88 out to be more fun (if I can get it put together)

I bought my 68 convert in '99 and have been half heartedly looking for better front fenders. All the vendors that have seen mine said they are the best they've seen in years and would work with them. Mitcheles Motors had a NOS pass fender 3 years ago at Carlisle for 1300 bucks. I got lucky and found NOS grills and marker lights for 300 for every thing still in the factory boxes. I bought a 68 F/B for 750 just to get the tail light bezels. A kid offered me 600 for the rolling chasis, so now I have a 318 and 904 to get rid of. I think the 68 is the best of the 7,8,9's. Sheet metal is gettin real hard to find and no one knows if Goodmark will ever get around to making A-Body parts. I paid 2K for mine in '99 and it's a #'s matching 383 4spd convert. I think 2K for a non performance roller is too much unless the sheet metal is really sweet. But, like it was said above, they are not making any more of them. Just MHO, Joe.

Just reread your first post. I thought you said the whole car was a patch job. If it's just the engine comp cobbled up and your gonna make a racer or cruiser out of it that won't matter. If the fenders are near mint they can be worth close to 2K. I already have a complete 69 340 4spd drivetrain with an 8 3/4 out of a Swinger, so if I found a sweet body, yes it would be worth 2K to me also. If your friend paid 12 for it I should assume it was NICE looking. Pictures speak  throw money, so I'm always leary of a sight unseen car. good luck, Joe.

This sounds like an okay deal. '68 'Cudas don't generally get sold as rolling chasises because of how much people will pay for driver cars.

I see more rolling chassis cars in my parts than I do drivers for sure.

Love to see some pics.
