I was asked a question by a freind of mine who owns a 1970 440 6-Pack Road Runner. He wanted to know what the difference between a Coupe and a Hardtop is on his car. I love MOPARS however I am a big fan of racing them and performance. Not much on the all original stuff.

One of you smart guys let me now what the answer is please. Thanks Beep beep

I believe the difference you will find is in the post between the two side windows. Without a post (such as a Duster or early 70's Satellite) you would have a coupe. If the door frame goes all the way around the window and has a post, hardtop it is...
I think....

Yeah, something like that.  I have a hardtop with no post between the door and back window, but I've seen 69's with a post and a flip out rear window, I guess that's a post.

If all side windows roll down with no post between them its a hardtop. Otherwise, its a coupe.

Yep. Not to further confuse matters, but it is a coupe, I think because the rear windows don't roll down. They pop out like a Duster. If all the windows roll down and there is a pillar (full window frame on the doors, too) it is a sedan.

I was taught that the hardtop doesn't have the post between the windows, the coupe is a 2 door w/post, and the sedan is a 4 door w/post.
