/6 torsion bars.....
« on: September 13, 2008, 07:04:11 PM »

Finally got my   bbd sign running and on the road (it was worth every $$ spent BTW  throw money).

Anywho my torsion bars have sagged completely, she's currently resting on the bumpstops up front. I'm thinking about cranking those suckers up and seeing what happens, has anyone had any luck doing this? I eventually would like to get a heavier set for the front but I don't think it'll happen before winter - I'm hoping to get a little time in behind the wheel in the meantime.

Should I crank them or no???  Dunno

i have /6 torsion bars up front. they are nice and springy for my front end lift.
I jacked mine up all the way becuase of tire clearence issuses w/fenderwell headers and it rides ok with them all the way up
even though my travel is maxed out, when i drove it half cranked it was nice...for a 440 and slant six torsion bars...of course.

Slant 6 torsion bars and a 440... just be careful when you hit a bump.  While you can adjust them to get decent ground clearance, the spring rate is weaker than what you need with a 440, and you could bang your oilpan off the ground if you hit a big bump.  New torsion bars are $$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!!!!.

Thanks everyone. I adjusted them today to a decent height for ground clearance and took her out for a  4 speed.

Then came back and remeasured - the height remained as I had adjusted.  Cheers

Thanks again for the replies!!
