For a hopefully a short time.
We close on the sale of our home of FORTY years at ten am tomarrow. It was forty years yesterday that we closed on the purchase of our home here in Illinois.
After the closing. we are on the road to our new home in Arkansas. We closed on the purchase of that house on 01-19-2007. It has been 20 months tommarrow 9-19-2008.
I hope to be back online with dialup (ugh) soon, then maybe HughesNet Satelitte, as we are so far out in the sticks at the new house.

Hey Herb- For your internet use, Verizon broadband might be an option for you. If you get cellphone reception, it will work. It's cheaper than Hughesnet and WAY faster than dial-up. Much slower than cable though. It's like a cellphone that plugs into your computer. I live in the sticks and that's what I use. Good luck! -Jay

Thanks everyone for the kind comment and best wishes.
We left Illinois at about Noon on Friday and arrived safely at our new home about 10:45 PM.
This DialUp SUCKS Big Time. 21 - 24 kbs connections.
No chance of getting any type of DSL or Cellphone service. We are just too far out in the sticks.
Looks like it will have to be HugesNet for our internet access.

Yup ,,,you're not in Towanda anymore , are you Dorothy ? We have 26.4kbs in White Heath dial-up! Just send us a map & we'll be along with our in-laws and their 17 kids-(5 are adopted) and their 3 St. Bernards ( they finally got that one to stop biting ! ) We've all been waiting for an extended vacation in the warmer climes . No cell phones ? You really are out there ,,I thought they had towers everywhere or are you blocked by them thar hills ? One last question ,,,who's supposed to keep an eye on Spence now ??,,,,is that Maynard's job ? Keep in touch !Glad you guys made it !-----------------Mopar Tom
