I have been looking for a 440 (a rebuildable one) and everytime I do a craigslist search in my area over this past summer there seems to be an abundance of 440's for sale recently in the $300-$500 range. Anyone else notice this?
This morning I checked and there are 6 for sale within an hour drive from me. Six months ago there was maybe one or two and they were a hell of a drive to get them.
I have to take into consideration that since I might only check two or three times a month for them that it might just be chance that I am seeing so many for sale recently and they have been available all the time, but still it comes as a bit of a happy shock.
I suppose hard times have hit and people are getting rid of what they can as fast as possible, or the gas prices are scaring people into small blocks. Either way, it seems like the right time to get a 440 on the cheap for me.

I got tired of tripping over them in my engine house I sold most of them. Had to make room to walk in the shop.
