Value of used Alloy Wheels and Tires.
« on: September 24, 2008, 06:54:20 PM »

I'm trying to get an idea of what stock 17 inch alloy wheels with 35 inch Bf Goodrich TA and almost new Michelin tires are worth. I'm putting them on my local Craigslist and want to get rid of them quickly while not GIVING them away.
There from my 2003 Dodge Ram when I traded it in; and my 2006 Dodge Ram's stock wheels and tires. Is there a "valuation" website for wheels and tires? I know the factory charges up the ying yang for stock alloy wheels; but what about on the public market? I wanna be realistic on the resale price.

 agree

I do that quite a bit to help evaluate prices for items.  if theres a slew of bids on an item, you can usually sense it started at a decent price.  if they have a few hours left and no one has bid or even asked a question, its a good sign that theyre overpriced for the market.

its not fool proof, but unless youre hoping to squeeze every last penny, its a good place to get a ballpark idea

Yeah; I checked out EBay and there were only a couple of ads for stock Ram rims. No bids however. Looks like I'll have to ask a very low price for them. No biggie. I need the room and a few x-tra bucks for the Dart! Thanks guys

Last summer, I bought four 17" Avalanche wheels for my Yukon on E bay.  I think I got them for 150 bucks plus 90 dollars shipping.  Great deal when you consider they're 432.00 each from the dealer.

I deal used tires part time. My brother and I manage a venture that is farely profitiable, something like that would be a 400-500 dollar package.  The tires are easily worth $50-75 a piece.  The wheels are worth $50-75 a piece as well.  It is a fair price for You as well as your buyer.  Wheels and tire are hard to compare to ebay because 95% of your craigslist response is within driving distance.  Wheels go cheap on ebay because you have to factor in shipping and handling as well as ebay fees.  I would start at $500 and wouldnt go any lower than $400.00.  If someone is looking for these tires they usually know what cost is new, so they know they will be getting a good deal, just my 2 cents
