Oil pan gasket question.
« on: September 25, 2008, 01:15:12 AM »

My 440 is leaking from where the oil pan meets the timing cover. I ordered a timing gasket kit. now here is the question: I noticed that it came with the front part of the oil pan gasket. do I cut the old gasket out and permatex the new piece in? thats how Im assuming I would do it. any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Huh

one step better, don't even use gaskets next time. i black rtv everything, thats how most race engines are done for expense and ease of quick rebuilds.

Be sure to not over tighten the bolts. Thats how most leaks are created to begin with.
