I am going to go from the /6 to a SB... I know the header subject has been beat to death but I wanted to ask this one... I want fender well headers.. Who makes them and how much of a pain are they after you cut the fender wells?

i own a 1964 barracuda that has been a 340 for several years and now i'm going to big block. i installed a set of hooker super comp headers that are considered semi-fender well (2 tubes go out on passenger side, and 3 on the driver side) on my 340, they worked great! just not fun to install, but once they are in, they aren't a big problem. i still have a set that is headed towards ebay soon, but i wouldnt be against someone saving me the touble of posting them. any other questions... joshua_hendry@hotmail.com

Slimers Super comps are a very well designed header for our apps. Just dont cut the fenderwell per their specs as youll have a hole 2X the size it really needs. The best way to install these headers is to literally screw them down into the fenderwell hole and them mount them up loosely, tighten up all the collector bolts then final tighten the flanges, youll need to dimple the #2 flange tube to clear the header bolt, but after that, they are pretty nice. I think you need to run a 90 degree filter adapter and youll still not be able to get to it! I went with a remote up on the fenderwell. Get your car up on the highest jackstands you can find , safely, as youll need plenty of wiggle room down there to mount them up.

Pishta is right. there doesnt need to be a real big hole in your fenderwell, just big enough for the headers. and you do also need a 90 degree filter adapter for the car, but conviniently enough i have two of those in the garage.
