I'm looking at buying up this 54 dodge regent I found,I was looking at a 52 that i had posted about but I like the look of this 54. I just really need to find out what width of a stock 54dodge is wheel to wheel and see about putting a volare front end under the car and a volare rear end under the rear. Install a slant 6 and a 904 auto and drive it this winter.

yeah the regent should be about 73" wide and so is the F body Aspen so it should be swapable. I coulc have the drivetrain together in a pretty short amount of time The transmission from the dart would be used(the fluid was a nice red and didn't smell burned so I think it should be decent. The 79 slant I'd use looks to be a good motor. From what it looks like I could ether use the factory 54 suspension or parts but I think upgrading would be in my best interest. |

actually doug depending on what happens I might be buying a diplomat just for the engine(to fix the ramcharger_I broke something again and now it's down to 6 cylinders) and I'll use the suspension and driveline under the 54.

I'll probably just leaver stock for now. I'll play around with it later I just want to be able to get it running. theres enough work as it is I figure I'll pick up a set of cheap guages to monitor the vitals, temp, oil press, and voltage, and use my garmin GPS unit as my speedo(it logs mph and kph but I'll likely install a temporary mph guage just to be safe) I'll do this just so I can simplify things and get the stock cluster upgraded next year.

Anyone ever driven something from this era? I may just keep it simple and leave the stock brakes and suspension for the winter and research a better suspension swap.
