On mine, I have 4 wires, dark blue, brown, green and red. Is there a way to jumper the wires from a battery to test it? I tried a little but wonder if two of the wires need to be energized, etc. The motor is a 3 speed.

Find the hot wire, usually red, then hook a wire to the plus side of the battery to the red wire. With a test light touch the other wires, 2 should be hot, one for slow speed one for high, the other will be ground. Take the ground and attach a wire to that and then to the ground side of the battery. When you touch the ground to the negative side of the battery, the motor should work.
