A "Chevy" friend of mine was watching a TV show of Barrett Jackson and the narrators said that if a ('70 up) E-body Plymouth had the "Cuda" option, it was no longer a Barracuda. They said it would no longer be correct to call it a Barracuda. I told him that's not true. It's a Barracuda with the 'Cuda option. From what I remember, the padded dash still even says "Barracuda" on the right side.
I told him those narrators are always getting the facts wrong for Chevys, Fords and especially Mopars. What do you all remember or KNOW of this little detail? I know the first 'Cuda package came in '69 (some people think it was '70) and just like an R/T Challenger is still a Challenger, a 'Cuda is still a Barracuda.
What y'all think?

The name 'Cuda was first used in '69 as an option package for the Barracuda, if I'm not mistaken. Therefore, the use of the name 'Cuda actually officially started with the A-bodies.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I know the first 'Cuda package was in '69. But what I'm trying to get some verification on is about the '70 and up cars. If they have the 'Cuda package, I believe they're STILL a Barracuda. Thanks Cary for verifying about the dash. That's the way I remember them too. When I think about it, I'm certain (in MY mind anyway) that if you looked at a new window sticker for a 70-74 Cuda, the first thing it would document would be the primary body line, Barracuda. Then, going down the list of options, there would be the 'Cuda option/package. To me, this is common sense. Leave it to the BJ narrators to get the facts all messed up.

That is correct. They were all Barracuda's first the had the Cuda option. The B on the VIN tells it all. Then comes the H or S.

you're correct about Cuda being a Barracuda option. Kinda like a Z-28 being a Camaro option ( did I just mention chebby on this board/)

How about Demon and Sport? They were still Darts on the VIN.
