spring relocate question.
« on: October 01, 2008, 10:55:16 PM »

ok im getting ready to do the mopar kit to move my springs in.... here is my question: i was thinking that i would  cut only the outside edge of the frame and mount the boxes in that way. i was thinking of doing it this way because i have already done the mini tub with the factory wheel well and it seems that the inner wheel well is going to be the liimiting factor for the tire width so it would make sence to keep the springs stance as wide as possible. that being said. i was wondering if i could just use the factory hanger and a 1/2 inch rod to locate the new hole. is that how you guys have done it?

I like to take the stock front spring hanger and cut it in half. Use on half on each side, get the bar level and square.

I never ever mount the box centered in the rail. I either mount the box flush with the outer frame edge or prefer to leave the outer rail section intact, drill a bunch of holes for plug welds and weld the bottom edge to the box to the existing rail.

If you decide to cut both sides of the rail out, make sure you support the back half of the car.

thanks guys. the reason i wanted to do it just like your pic shows is because i already have the brand new hangers from mancini that have the two sets of holes drilled in em so you can lower the car and i wanted to use them to get the holes in the same location with the lowering kit
