You gain the advantage of being able to tune your fuel mixture by changing jets on the secondary side.

the only real gain is being able to change jets without drilling

You can also modify the carb further by adding four corner idle . Chryco

It certainly couldn`t hurt . But make sure you can fit the carbs inline . You may not have the clearance front to back with the metering blacks . The "traditional" 660 cfm "center squirters" had plates on the secondary side . You may have to mount the carbs sideways and have "fun" with the throttle linkage . Good Luck ! Chryco

engine is a 440, not street driven. So whats to change? I see a metering plate inside the bowl. Im guessing to remove that and add a metering block with jets & no power valve, equalize the front power valves & diaphram springs, equalize jets size all round & go? I will start off with heavy black diaphram spring & tune from there... is that all there is to it??

i think its quickfuel that makes a jet plate if you need the room to keep the carbs in line it fits where the metering plate was but accepts jets.

Try using the purple Vac. Sec. spring to start, the black will never open fully.

Unless you know that both carbs are too big to start with. The clear or brown ones are between the stock black smog spring and the purple, it's your guess. I use the quick change kit. And if it bogs when it hits hi gear, the spring is too soft.
