Is it just me, or do those look like the torsion bars slide in between the primary pipes?

they look like theyd be like comparing manifolds to headers. i guess the spitfires are better than manifolds but these are real heders. i always thought the colector setup on the spitfires was way too funky. so is that a new early A exhaust too? i almost want to run out and buy me an early A body. come on dave, buy the whole setup, you need it, you have to have it... tell him joe...

Yeah I need donations for those headers too. paypal accepted. Good thing I don't have a credit card any longer. I am sure those would work better than the stock 273 exhaust manifolds on my 318 engine.

I actually spoke to Harold at Spitfire Headers on Sunday afternoon! He's planning on building five sets of the small block headers for '63-'66 A-body cars this week. I ordered two! We shall see. Will do C.O.D.!!! He's really a nice guy to talk to.

Are headers for early A bodies that hard to find? Hedman's made them for years...up to 2" tubes with 3" or 3 1/2" collectors... Anyone using them?

ok...I'll go with that. I don't mind cutting a car up if it's for racing though. Restoration is a whole other issue.

Well I took the plunge this past weekend at Springfling. Bought the early A headers. I didn't hurt all that bad. Sure nice quality. Their header display had them hooked to a 3" exhaust for the early A bodyj

Any word about a supposed starter issue I read about somewhere? The one set of pictures I've seen doesn't show the clearance for the starter fery well. I would suppose that you might need to use the mini starter and a heat shield. Perhaps unfortunately, I still like the Chrysler starter whine. 'Course I like it better when followed by an uncorked race Hemi barking to life!!!

Can you do me a big favor and take pictures of the headers once they are installed? I'm particularly interested in the area near the clutch pedal pushrod. I want to get a Keisler hydraulic clutch actuator and I'm concerned that it won't fit with the TTI headers. I know it doesn't fit with Doug's headers. Did you buy the exhuast, too? It is a nice setup. I saw it at Spring Fling also. I wish that I had taken pictures of them. Thanks, Lee

Well, Gee, folks, I don't have Micro$oft WORD,j ust Wordpad, sort of a lite version of Word. So, when I open the instructions from Joe's post at the top of this thread, I get a message about "cannot open graphics" or some such, and then it asks if I want to open the document anyway. So, I open the doc without the graphics and get a nice clear readable set of instructions without any of the graphics that are apparently included in the instructions.
So, just for grins, I opened the document in Corel Word Perfect. What a surprise I got!!! In addition to the document overflowing on doth sides of my screen, I got a big PINK diagonal slash across the pages with a note that reads:
"Correct Information Required. As of 02/27/06 we do not have the installation instructions."
Also in the document there are some pink underlinings and numbers not present referring to Powermaster starters, Milodon oil pans and Edelbrock heads.
Did we push 'em too hard and they rushed 'em out with some glitches or what??? Has anyone CALLED T.T.I. or actually installed the new T.T.I. TTI-636A-C4 or TTI-636A-C5 headers???
I had read somewhere about some starter issues that were not specified, but maybe a few more startup glitches?
anyone have any newer info?

Well I talked with the TTI rep at Springfling. You have to use a ministarter. They recommend the Powermaster. Their display motor had a Milodon pan on it and the headers cleared, lots of room. You also have to remove the driver side torsion bar and disconnect and move back the steering column. These headers are one piece. I have a pic of the old style D/Dart headers made by Dougs and they pretty close except the old headers come in sections with flanges. One more thing. You also have to cut off the casting that sticks out on the drivers side rear on the block.

I got a couple of photos from TTI of the headers while they were under development. It looks like there is plenty of room for the Keisler hydraulic setup.

Can someone please get me Harold's phone number (for Spitfire Headers)
I tried to call the number at some "unofficial" website, but could never get thru.
Thanks!

By the way, I called TTI about their new "early A-body" headers and got some discouraging news...
First of all, these Headers are selling for $750 dollars a set. I have a 360/727 in my '65 Barracuda so I need that special Power Master starter, which adds another $189 dollars to the project. Plus the guy I talked to says that only a 9" torque converter will work with my setup, so I have to spend more cash for that ($200 - $600?).
Anyway, now this little project looks like its heading in the $1500 price range and that doesn't even include the rest of the exhaust (dual mufflers, pipes etc)
TTI sells rest of the exhaust system for $540 (if my memory serves me).
I don't know about you, but that's a chunk of change! I wouldn't mind spending the $750 for the headers, but I already made the investment in a mini starter and torque converter, you know what I mean?
I suppose TTI was going for an all-out performance setup, which is fine, but do they really think a lot of early A-Body owners can afford to spend a small fortune just to get headers? Too bad they couldn't design a header that works for the average joe (one that doesn't require pricey upgrades), even if there is a slight compromise in performance. If I can't get a set of Spitfire Headers I may have to go forward on my original plan to make my own, which I'm not especially looking forward to either. If you couldn't tell, I'm a little disappointed whith TTI...
Thanks for letting me vent!
