well, i wasnt planning on painting my car, just flat black, but i decided to try it because i have $20 in paint so far! it works pretty good. i used rustoleum regal red. i'm just trying my hood right now. the hood is drying as we speak. i like the paint, but i'm not crazy about the roller idea. i'm gonna do my next coat with a gun. my only suggestion - when you think you have it thin enough, make it thinner!! at least if you're using a roller! i'll get some pictures up soon. all in all, i like it - its a good way to cheaply get some color on a car, but you can tell its not "professional"

here's a picture of the first coat (the red part) . it looks just as good as the single stage black next to it (that i payed a lot more for!) i didn't have the hood as straight as i though, so i have to sand it off. when i put it back on, i'll use a spray gun.

amen - most of the cost in a paint job is the prep and sanding though

I would stay away from that stuff. I have heard nothing but problems using their paint. I myself am I former body man and like the old saying goes you get what you pay for. If everyone is looking for a cheap paint job then prep the car yourself and take it MAACO. But if your really looking for a decent paint job and not spending an arm and a leg then I would use Dupont's Nason or PPG's Omni. Both relatively cheap compared to others and the quality if very, very good. I have used R-M for quite a few years and really like it but at about $165 or more a gallon it can be quite expensive in the long run. I will be redoing my Dart and plan on using Dupont's Nason. Prices vary depending on where you buy but here is general idea of what they go for. http://www.ketone.com/products.php?cat=177

bump what you all think of this?
dam this must have been barried away....so my coronet is in ugly primer....i already have 45,000$ into her but can't afford a 5,000 paint job...it's funny but even before i read this i tried spraying a fender with tremclad flat black...with a wet sand etc...and it works awesome......tremclad is the sh##...it's the only paint i have ever used that's so forgiving,of element,rust,etc.....beside's all my profesional painter buddies say the key to a good looking paint job is the wet sand.....so for now i'd rather pay myself 40$ an hour and make the car look a lot more presentable..until i can save up to pay some guy [that dosen't give a crap] to paint my car.......beside's it would be alot better then the orange peel maco paint job...

Some of those guys over on Moparts.com are using the Interlux/Brightside paint with some really impresive results. The Brightside is a polyurethane single stage that is used on boats. It costs a few extra bucks and covers a bit faster than the Tremclad/Rustoleom from what I have read. Really cool thread that helped a lot of people renew their interest in projects that would still be collecting dust with no hope of ever being done. http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=2331682&an=0&page=1#Post2331682Search for Marq. He introduced the Brightside.

dont worry, they delete them after a period of time to save space. If you want a picture to stay, upload it to the gallery first. -Evan
