Newbie question on Differentials
« on: March 22, 2006, 01:09:22 PM »

I know practicaly nothing about diffs, and was wondering about the Dana60 in particular. My project is a 65 Dart which will get a 360/904 transplant. I had planned on obtaining an 8 3/4 Chrysler rear end; but i saw this ad in my local paper for a Dana 60 w/410s for $100. I was wondering if it is feasable since I would have to have the 8 3/4 cut down shorter and custom shortened axles meaning the spring perches would have to be moved in order to recieve the new relocation leaf spring mounts anyway; then could ANY Dana 60 be made to fit? I know it might sound lame; but if I don't ask; .........well ya gotta find out some way. Undecided

It would be overkill, but it would work. Truck axles had no provision for the pinion snubber and it's even possible it's not from a Mopar. In the end, it probably won't save you any money, though.
