Wilwoods OK for the Street?
« on: March 24, 2006, 08:52:57 PM »

I'm a bit spooked by Wilwood's description of their brakes as "racing only".

Should I be?

What about the fact they don't have dust seals?

Or should I just go to Baer for big rotors and 4 wheel discs?

TIA

If you want Wilwoods for the street they have Prostreet brake kits for that purpose.  The Prostreets front and rear are what I have myself.

Says that on lots of things.  Just a CYA move for the companies.  It's fine as long as you pay attention to the weight restrictions of the part.

i don't care for wilwoods for street they don't have and boots on the pistons. if you do use them make sure you clean the pistons real good before you press them in to replace the pads or you will score the caliper housing

I have the 12.19" Wilwoods on my AlterKtion with 16" rims.

I was surprised at how compact the calipers are. I could have got away with the 12.90" Wilwoods with 6 piston calipers.

Of course, those are literally twice the money...
