OK - - here we go. I've got this nice bodied 67 amc Rebel. The front end seems to have a littel wobble that I havent' investigated yet. But just thinking ahead, I wondering about alternative front ends for this car. Would an alterktion fit? The AMC still uses and upper trunnion and 4 wheel drums. so if I upgrade, it will be for something modern. Any thoughts?

Its a unibody car, no frame like the Vic. Its got weird trunnions and a coil spring up into the shock towers. Not much aftermarket stuff is available for it.

Maybe look into the mustang stuff. There is a company called chassis works. They offer a frontend kit for the mustanges that under there total control brand name. It is kind of expensive in my book but it is an idea. We have put it on a mustang and a couger. It is nice stuff.

Could probably get some parts to use a Mustang II suspension in it.

...I've looked under a few, and at a number of photos. Theres enough room and enough mounting points to do something cool. If I had one, I'd probably tackle it, if anything just for the cool factor. I don't really know what the market is or how many years a design would fit though.

Those who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those of us who are doing it.

From what I "think" I know, the Rebel was the midsize chasses and the same suspension was used 67 - 70. Eldubb know's best on this one.
I've been on the AMC forum and nothing exists for these cars. I have some picts of a rebel getting Jag. front end parts, but its an undertaking. Most AMC'ers seem content to install disk brakes on the drum spindles, swap bar and call it a day. I like the idea of a rear link/coil over and a full front end swap too.
The existing motor is a 343 tied to a BorgWarner trans. Lots of guys bolt on a 727 trans. I don't know for sure, but I think an AMC 727 is externatlly diff. than a Mopar 727. I need to research it more. I think it would be cool to go with a 440 BB / 727. Not AMC pure, but I've got the motor already. Rear? 8.75 would work. not sure of the width though. Probably a B body.
If you want to do an AMC....let me know offline. I'm interested. I would even send my car up to you for a "developmental visit".

The major diff AMC and Chrysler 727 is just the mounting.
360s are cheap, parts for 360s are available, 360s can go REALLY fast. INDY makes AMC parts. I suggest you take a look at what Indy could do for a $200 Wagoneer motor before deciding to go Chrysler BB.
There's a cool chart on the web somewhere on where to get a bolt-in 8-3/4" from to use in any given AMC.
I'd suggest taking loads of measurements, there is likely a cheap easy bolt-in suspension swap available.

I've seen a lot of real quick AMC engines. If 1000 hp isn't enough, power-adders can fill in the blanks. (limit around 512ci on the AMC engines, for this build a cheap 360 with some Indy parts would likely be enough)

cheap and indy Cheap is the purchase of the engine. Wagoneer 360s go for dirt.
