Heres a pic of my daily driver for the last 30 years. I finally got the A/C going again. Specs currently are 440 40 over, 4 speed, 8-3/4 373 dana powr-lok. 74 dart discs and drums, moser axles, scatter shield, mcleod clutch and flywheel. Upgraded torsion bars and 74 dart sway bar. Super stock rear springs moved in with the kit. Recent additions are polished radiator tank by US radiators, New sandon compressor on A/C, modified a gm condensor I got off amazon for 80 dollars new to replace the funky 68 plymouth one that always leak on the one hose attachment (bad design IMO). Mini starter (this takes some getting used to the sound). I drove it over a 2 hr highway trip today, ice cold A/C, but when it got over 100 degrees outside it was vapor locking a bit. Fuel pressure is at 7 lbs, probably needs turned down to 6? Always something on these but so nice to have tunes and a/c again. The motor is nice to listen too also though. It's not show car clean as I have no garage and it is driven lots! poor car needs paint http://s970.photobucket.com/albums/ae187/fastcuda/?action=view¤t=newcam006.jpghttp://i970.photobucket.com/albums/ae187/fastcuda/newcam003.jpghttp://i970.photobucket.com/albums/ae187/fastcuda/newcam008.jpg

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

Very nice lookin car, must be great to have a dailydriver like that!
Theres some simple things you can do to avoind vaporlocking. 1/ use a fiberplate between the carb and manifold 2/ If you got a electrical fuelpump make an reutrn line so the fuel circulates in the system this will help keep the temp down 3/ If you have any obvious places were the fuelline is exposed to heat manufacture heatshields or isolate the fuelline, one place for example is were the fuelline is running over the intmanifold, shiled it of with a metalplate. Simple and works good. Also If you got the line running close to the engineblock put a thicker rubberhose arround it, simple and works good.
I've got a mechanical fuelpump and I've done 1&3 and they solved all my issues with vaporlocking.

the fuel line is that stainless steel stuff fron the fuel filter up, so it cannot get hot and I have one of those insulator plates that is a bunch of plates and gaskets sandwiched under the carb, it is a mechanical pump, but the hp carter that puts out 9 lbs so i put a regulator on it. Carb may just need a rebuild, I'll figure it out.

You will solve it with trial and error Im sure...If you take a look at your fuelsystem you will easily figure out where it gets hot, Vapor lockin occurs because the gasoline reaches its boiling point and that causes airpockets in the fuellines. Notice that the fuel has a very much lower boiling point then water so even if the line doesnt feel to hot it could still be enough to boil the fuel. Also one source of heat thats easy to forget is radiation heat, my what solved my problems was to make a shield that kept the readiation heat from the manifold ans headers away from the fuelline.

I think the vaporlocking is from the a/c line going across the fuel line by the carb, Yes I live up by clearlake, that was me, I cant imagine another black 68 bb up here.

fastcuda, Wow, what a trip. I thought I recognized the car and the area. I was at the "four corners" Safeway when you pulled in and parked a few doors down. We chatted a bit and both went on our way. This was probably 5 years ago. I think you may have had a 383 in it at that time? Small world...
