power drum to manual disc questions
« on: July 02, 2009, 09:22:01 AM »

Hey Guys,
Doing some work to a buddy's 1968 Baracuda. 418 ci, 727. 9" with 4.11 gears.
I'm installing a Ford Racing rear disc brake kit that is basically  Ford Explorer brakes.

My buddy has always complained about brakes that are too hard to push. I think the car originally had 4 wheel power drum and had been converted to front disc, using the original master cylinder without the brake booster.

Here's my question;
1) Did Mopar use two different pedal ratios? One for manual, one for power? I looked at hes brake pedal and there's only one hole for the push rod, and not really room to go closer to the pivot.

2) What are the factory master cylinder bore sizes for manual and disc?

3) What do you guys use for a master cylinder? (he really wants to use an aluminum body, plastic reservoir, factory looking, late model set up)

I use the Mopar performance one from Mancinis.  Seems to work fine for me.
