Photos of "73" Idler Arm on a "67" K Frame
« on: September 21, 2009, 02:51:06 PM »

Here is something I have been running for quite nsome time now(Approx. 10 years).

I just a week ago replaced the who knows how old used "73" Idler arm that had been in use in this application for about 10 years.

It seems to work fine with no alignment problems.

I use a Grade 8, 9/16" NF (18 TPI IThink) bolt with a loctited castyle nut. The bolt will thread itself into and tighten down in the tapered K Frame hole, but I use the nut and loctite to be sure.

I am using this with all the other "73" front suspension componets.

I hope this info is of some help and works out for others.

I don't have a '67, but that's definitely good information for possible future projects!! Good to know there's an option to do away with the oddball '67 stuff. Thanks for the pics.

That's great info.  I have a 67 also and was thinking I would have to get another k-frame at some point......maybe not???

I would add a lower support tab to give it extra support like on the later K-members.
I never much cared for the single mounting tab on the 67 K-member it kind of makes me nervous.
I swapped mine out to a spool mount style I made into a big block K-member.
Good idea on what you did .. Thumbsup
Good alternative to being bent over on a new 67 idler arm.

I have a 67 sedan that had a factory V8 and a 67 convertible that has a straight six, I can't see the differences in the Kmember. Any ways I'm looking forward to putting a whole new RMS front end on my convertible so if there are any 67 purist out there, I would make them a deal on any steering or suspension part that I'm not going to use.
