I was wondering what sort of leaf springs I'll be needing for my 1972 Dart. The car has a 440 / 727 combo in it, but other than that it is not heavily modified. I want the car to have some rake to it, but nothing too dramatic (I should mention that I have 1" torsion bars up front, if that makes any difference). Which ones should I choose? Does anyone have any recommendations?

OEM 6 leaf HD springs are nice for the street. i had these on my duster and it gave it a nice stance. go with adjustable rear hangers so you can lower or raise to your taste.

Before I went with a Caltrac setup, I had ESPO (Springs n things), 1" over stock ride height on my 68 Dart. Not stiff, and a decent "rake". The pic below is just after I installed them. They did settle down to the advertised 1" lift after alittle street use. Excellent price, and even better customer service. codfish

You ain't gonna believe this, but JC Whitney has AMERICAN made (JR Springs in Illinois) for only $65 bucks apiece. They come in stock or 2" increased lift or stock. I running the stock and as you can see, there is still a bit of rake.

i heard that they lower the car one inch or more. and they use the bigger 5/8 front eye bolt and the bigger bolt for the rear shackles so there suppose to be real sturdy. plus im using adjustable front hangers so i can go real low in the back

That's nuts! If they're even somewhat durable that may be a good deal. How much was it to ship them?

I couldn't wait for an answer, so I checked the site. According to the website itself, they do not have them for my '72 Dart. It could be a web snafu. When did you buy them? Do you still have a part #, or do our vehicles not take the same springs? I'd be a bit surprised if they didn't.

And yes they still make them, but you may have to call them because it's so old of an application. I bought mine 2 years ago for $57. each!

Thank you for that! Our cars take the same springs? That makes thing easier. I'll get right on that! What would I pay for some adjustable shackles?

I think with the arc you're going to have, you won't need adjustable shackles. They're usually a band-aid for sagging springs anyway. I'm sure you can get them at Whitney's too if you really want them

We used the MP 002/003 springs on my boys Dart. You can see here how it sits. Even if your car sits high when you put springs on it you can lower it some with lowering blocks. Ron

I had heard this before and I went to thier site and searched up and down and could not locate these springs. Is there a part number ?

SS springs suck for street use, rear end way too high. lowering blocks way too low, the ride is harsh and noisy. Had a set on a 72 duster after about 300 miles they came off the car for some nive ESPO springs that are perfect for street and occasional strip use. Heard some good things about the JC Whitney sprins on another board, could be worth considering.

I'm wanting to get rid of the shackles on my 68 Dart. Never really liked them. I like the looks of Codfishes 68 clean, nothing hanging out or down. i like the Darts that are alittle high in front and a little higher in back. Kinda the crouching tiger look. Codfish ya got it right.

SS springs on my 63 in this pic. This is just how it sits when I put them on and have the longer extending C-body shocks. They ride great for me as I drive it everywhere. Ron
