bucket seats
« on: April 11, 2006, 02:25:52 AM »

i pulled a set of bucket seats from a 74 dart sport for my sons 73 duster. i dont know if the seats were original in the dart. the outer seat track droped right in and the inner tracks lined up with the dimples in the floor board of the duster which is an original bench seat. only the drivers seat appears to be too close to the door. from the front the steering wheel is not centered on the seat, not even close. it looks like the seat needs to move inboard about 2-4 inches. the passenger seat doesnt seem to be as far off. the passenger seat is closer to the trans tunnel than the drivers seat. i will take the seats back out and see if the tracks will bolt to the seats in more than one position. any one have any ideas, thanks, mark. email if prefered,  dragracingrule@aol.com

Bench seat and bucket seats use different holes

Pull the carpet or look under the car and you should see some body plugs that cover the holes for the buck seats. If I remember right the Bench seat mounts on the raised part of the floor and the buckets do not

Plug the holes the bench seat used and unplug the bucket holes and there in

The bucket seat holes were only drilled on bucket seat cars. There were also re-inforcement plates welded around the holes.
