Ignition- Cold Start

1974 dart swinger. Morning start or after the car has sat for a few hours and has cooled completely down I can't get the car to start by turning the key.It cranks over fine but nothing doing.  I have to start it from under the hood at the relay. Afterwards and for hours, as long as the engine is warm it starts from the key with no problem or hesitation help.

i had a hotrod that would not start in the start position, only when i let the key go would she fire up. i changed out the ignition switch and all was back to normal.

Yeah I changed the ingition Key mechanism and switch. The electronic ignition box, ballast resistor, guts to the distributor, cap & rotor, and coil. Once I get it started from under the hood and the engine is warm it's ok.Starts up there after just fine. It's just that initial cold start or start after the engine is completely cooled down that thats frustrating  and embarrassing

Check the bulkhead connector. One easy thing to try is to put a voltmeter on the coil and disconnect the yellow wire from the starter relay (will keep it from cranking). Make sure you also have voltage to the ignition module under the same circumstances. If you have voltage, then check your grounds.
